Guidelines
VISION is a theme-based publication. Concise articles are preferred. A good rule of thumb is 500-1000 words. We do not publish dissertations or other academic papers. Please indicate clearly when submitting whether your article, or any variation, has been published in another publication. Theme-related submissions that arrive too late will be considered for future issues.

THEME: Student Health and Well-Being

Education of the whole child has always been at the heart of VAIS independent schools. Today, more than ever before, the conversation has shifted to looking at the mental, emotional, and physical constructs as the foundation of success for a student.  According to a recent Pew Study, anxiety and depression top the list of problems that teens see among their peers. And, "school leaders, teachers and parents all play a role in keeping children healthy" according to Donna Orem, President of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).

How can VAIS educators break the cycle of stress and anxiety while helping students to thrive? What is being done specifically at your school to address some of these challenges, and how is a student's health and well-being at the center of the effort? How are you bringing your parents into this conversation?
