Finding, Engaging and Training Fundraising Leadership for Independent Schools
Tuesday, September 18, 2019, 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Lewis Botanical Gardens, Richmond, VA

Leadership is so important to annual fundraising and to campaigns but everyone is struggling to find good leaders.
Where do we look to find them? How do we engage them? How do we train them? How are we bringing along the next generation of fundraising leaders – what are their expectations and how are they different? What is the role of volunteer fundraisers (board and others) in a major fundraising initiative? How should the head of school be involved in fundraising?

FEATURED SPEAKER

Wendy S. McGrady, Executive Vice President, The Curtis Group

Wendy
McGrady has more than 25 years of development and marketing experience, many of them for nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. Much of Wendy’s work takes place behind the scenes working directly with clients, but she has also become a sought-after presenter and speaker on the topic of enhancing nonprofit development capacity and other fundraising issues. Past engagements include venues such as Tidewater Community College’s Academy for Nonprofit Excellence, University of Richmond’s Institute on Philanthropy, the Hudson Institute, and Association of Fundraising Professionals chapters across the region.

As executive vice president at The Curtis Group, Wendy works diligently to advise her clients, though she wears many more hats than that. She oversees planning studies, campaign management, and marketing for the firm and she conducts board trainings and retreats. Her two decades of experience include donor, volunteer and leadership cultivation, major gift solicitation strategy, and special event production. Her marketing background enables her to offer clients unique insight into brand development, public relations and effective communication of their efforts.
