Meet Kim Failon, Director of Professional Development and Communications

Kim joined the VAIS staff in November 1991 in a one-year temporary position and has been “on board” ever since for over 20 years in a variety of positions. Prior to VAIS, Kim was in admissions on the higher ed level, and admissions on the PK-8th grade level.  She is a product of independent schools, has a child in an independent school and two that have graduated from them, and continues to be a full-fledged proponent of the experience.
 
As the Director of Professional Development and Communications, Kim works with numerous committees, educators, and connections to develop a full menu of programming for the educators and administrators in VAIS. Additionally, she oversees the Corporate Partnership Program, and as of July 1, 2014, also assumed the newly developed position of Director of Communications. Kim holds a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary, earned a teaching certification from Virginia Wesleyan College in 1991, and has graduate coursework through Virginia Commonwealth University. She enjoys gardening, social media, time with her family including her son, her two daughters and her husband, and lastly, her two West Highland terriers.

As the Director of Professional Development, Kim works with numerous committees, educators, and connections to develop a full menu of programming for VAIS.
