HOW WILL WE LEARN?  
This in-person event will include an engaging Keynote address with Dr. Hayley Watson and Learning Tracks for Counselors, Health & Wellness Educators, and Safety Personnel. Anticipate timely topic concurrent sessions, Deep Dive Training Workshops (Stop the Bleed & Vulnerability Assessment), and small group collaborative conversations on the picturesque campus of the University of Richmond.

CONCURRENT SESSIONS PROPOSALS
For the 2024 Safe & Healthy Schools Conference, VAIS is seeking proposals to support counselors, learning support specialists, nurses, health & wellness teachers, Safety & Security professionals, and educators at all levels of the independent school context CLICK HERE to submit a proposal.

KEYNOTE: Finding the Words: Conversations that Build Resilience & Belonging, Dr. Hayley Watson, School Mental Health Expert, Clinical Psychologist, CEO, Open Parachute.
This keynote will provide participants with practical tips for having conversations with students and staff about various mental health challenges, as well as tools for up-skilling your team to do the same. You will learn a conversation framework, as well as the specific words that you and your team can use to provide crucial support when it is needed most. You will leave with strategies to up-skill your colleagues and increased confidence to improve the mental health of your school community. 


Dr. Hayley Watson
, School Mental Health Expert, Clinical Psychologist, CEO, Open Parachute.  Dr. Hayley Watson is a clinical psychologist, researcher, lecturer, and program developer who is passionate about helping people find and cultivate their inner potential and inherent value. Her most recent project is a cutting-edge video-based mental health curriculum for middle and high schools. Watson is an expert in the field of group and school interventions and has worked with non-profit organizations, private corporations, and educational systems to create and deliver programs that inspire, motivate, and unlock the potential of youth from all backgrounds and circumstances. With extensive experience in the assessment, treatment, and support of children, adolescents, adults, and families with a wide range of emotional and behavioral difficulties, Watson has particular expertise in supporting adolescents dealing with anxiety, bullying/social exclusion, victimization, and relational difficulties. 

DEEP DIVE 2-HOUR SESSIONS
MORNING DEEP DIVE: Stop the Bleed Training
By learning how to STOP THE BLEED®, you’ll gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control bleeding once you learn three quick techniques. In this course, you will become empowered to make a life or death difference when a bleeding emergency happens.
